GeoPura Powers Live TV Broadcast in Germany with Hydrogen Fuel Cell Generators and Zero Harmful Emissions

David Reeks

GeoPura recently delivered zero-emission power for the live production and broadcast of “Ein sehr gutes Quiz (mit hoher Gewinnsumme)” in Germany providing reliable, clean power in a demanding live broadcast and television production environment.

Working at the remote filming location of Schloss Bröllin with no grid connection, GeoPura’s Hydrogen Power Units (HPUs) supplied continuous power for live broadcast infrastructure, set lighting, production equipment, technical operations, and crew facilities during multiple hours of live television.

The project was serviced by GeoPura Europe, with local on-site operational support backed by GeoPura’s wider Remote Operations Centre (ROC) team to ensure uninterrupted performance throughout the live broadcast.

Nico Schlenker, Production Manager of “Ein sehr gutes Quiz”, Florida TV Entertainment, said:

“Live productions demand absolute reliability, and there is no margin for error. GeoPura delivered a power solution that met those demands while removing emissions entirely. It is a clear demonstration that sustainable alternatives are ready for real-world broadcast environments.”

Live television production requires dependable off-grid power with no disruption. GeoPura’s hydrogen generators replaced traditional diesel generators with reliable hydrogen power, delivering zero carbon emissions at the point of use while improving air quality for cast and crew.

The deployment included:

  • Continuous high-load power for live television broadcast and transmission
  • Green hydrogen supply, refuelling, and operations
  • Local on-site engineering and operational support
  • 24/7 remote monitoring from GeoPura’s ROC team

Produced by Florida Entertainment GmbH for ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE, the project highlights that hydrogen power can support critical broadcast infrastructure while helping the film and television industry reduce emissions and improve sustainability.

As broadcasters, production companies, live events, and film sets continue to seek alternatives to diesel generation, hydrogen fuel cell technology is proving it can deliver reliable off-grid power without compromise the health of the people delivering it, or the environment.
